Premise: What if email were invented today, with the advantages of Instant Messaging, Internet Linkages (pictures, videos, and even some online applications), and Social Networking sites (e.g. Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, blogs, etc.) instead of having been created over forty years ago. Google has come up with their idea of what this could be…Google Wave.
This technology would need a huge player in the internet (re: Google) to be able to get this adopted. If email were only used for personal notes and correspondence these sorts of changes might take place naturally over time. But email has become a huge part of how modern business is conducted. And business (if only for legal reasons…) needs to be relatively conservative in how they implement changes this big. This is why Google is trying to push this new paradigm change.
If you have some experience with: Instant Messaging, Social Networking sites, and creating online content (if only by uploading some of your photos…) Google Wave may seem like a natural extension of all of these applications.

Google Wave isn’t an application…yet…it is still in the trial stage (I am part of it…) where most of it is in place. My experience (so far) of Google Wave is that it is still in the pre-release category, inasmuch as there are still a few bugs in the system. Also many of the real expansions of this system will be made once it is in release as an online application (that is, there aren’t that many tools and applications to use…yet).
So…if you are interested in becoming an early adopter of this new technology – you are in luck! I have a number of invitations to give out! To get this invitation you only have to reply to this post asking for a Google Wave invitation (to write a comment you will need to add your email address anyway…). Soon, you will receive an invitation from Google, giving you some easy instructions and directions in how to set up your Google Wave address and site.
Remember: first come, first served (I only have about twenty invitations left!).

I really want to try this new service before the official release. It would be great.
