I mentioned a couple different (very different) blogs the other day, one of them ‘Paleo-Future’ is a very involved conceit, where the author covers views of the future from the past (i.e. 1930’s magazines, etc…). This blog got me thinking about doing a little research about what is out there now which purports to show a ‘future’…
The Paleo-Future blog uses old copies of Popular Science (and other magazines) as source material. You can do a search online and find the present analogs of these magazines quite easily (Discover, PopSci, Popular Mechanics, Wired, etc.). But the thing I found to be most appealing to me were videos showing what our future could look like.
Here are a couple from Microsoft (who, by the way, spends about as much as anyone one this sort of research).
Finally, here is a short video which might be the connection between the posts at Paleo-Future and these Microsoft videos…
I do like the fact that this last video seems to (if only by implication) ask questions about our past and future…
