One of the biggest and most obvious criticisms of the original iPad was the fact that it was (and is) almost solely a content consumption device. Yeah, it does have a built in keyboard, a mike, and there are a few things you could do on this tablet, but…
The iPad 2, as well as some of its competitors (e.g. Motorola’s Xoom, et.al.) seem to have the increased resources with which this may become a possibility. Of course, this also begs a few questions as to what sort of content creation are we talking about?
In that most people don’t spend that much time writing (whether using a keyboard or using pen and paper) at home (high school journals and poetry notwithstanding); the prospect for other forms of creation would seem to have a readymade boost.
There are already a number of quite nice painting and ‘art’ apps out there for the iPad, and the possibility of a movement away from the sterile neatness of computers may be a result of millions of people scribbling away, drawing things, scrawling some notes, and generally humanizing the touch screen appliances in our future.
