One of the more astonishing aspects of the iPad’s spectacular growth and influence in the marketplace is the fact that there are no real competitors out there…still! Yeah, I have seen the Motorola (android honeycomb driven) and RIM efforts…as well as having spent more time than I would wish delving into HP’s attempts at a tablet (as an end user, it is still in limbo…).
I see posts in the techno blog arena suggesting that android platforms will finally move past the iPad by…2015? The dates are mostly in the realm of wish fulfillment, and the target may have already moved on by then.
I am also a bit surprised by the techno press never presenting the (obvious) question as to why all of the related competitors to Apple are still in the starting blocks. These are companies in an industry where turnaround time is far more important than in many other more traditional areas of business…all of them…flat footed? This is a question I would love to learn some answers to…
