About

About this blog:

My latest idea has been to change riehler blog into riehler weblog.

This simple change in nomenclature has deeper components than just a revisionist return to the original term for this activity. I found that Maria Popova’s Brainpickings site to be a bit inspirational, in that here moniker (‘interestingness’) to lead me to consider some of the underpinnings to my interests.

  • I find questions far more interesting than answers
  • I have always cultivated a sense of curiosity
  • Most of what my readership picks up on are little things I have found online
  • I see curation of this ‘curious’ information to be of more import than most of the contest I would have put up otherwise

This leads me to consider the core of my blog to be my reporting and curation of the things I find interesting and curious online. It has slowly become a widely unstated but self evident truth: the internet contains far more information that you can easily consume (actually there is more created every day than you could ever consume). This blog will be my attempt to winnow a few things for you inspect…

While there are plenty of other curation sites out there (increasing by the minute!), they are all different (at least the good ones). This little blog will be my attempt to join this new cadre.

About me:

While this blog covers some specific kinds of technology, I have had a chance to develop skills in a variety of areas I have been: a soldier, a linguist, a student (on and off since the early 70’s!), I worked in the electronics/semiconductor business for over twenty years. I was also an itinerant social studies teacher with interests in technology, history, teaching, and modern culture (in a broad sense).
