For today I have some Euro-centric links which cover a pretty wide swath of life… First off, I found the Sevilla 111Gigapixeles; it is a 360° view of Seville (i.e. in Spain…). The amazing thing about this panorama is that it is ‘zoomable’ (thus the 111 gigapixel moniker…). The net result of spending a few minutes in this site is similar to how the movies present high tech in security services like the NSA or CIA…for us, viewing this site can be a sort of’ virtual voyeur’ sense of Google street view on steroids…
The second link is to a topic which is near and dear to my heart. Several decades ago I lived in Berlin (then a part of West Germany, with the wall, and everything!), and the chances to delve into what you would call street food always became a chance for me to get a Currywurst (The Currywurst). This low brow street vendor sort of food became a defining part of my life (it’s stupidly easy to make…try it!).
Finally, I have some traditional U.K. eccentricity… in this case, Scottish. This is the account of a young man attempting to spend a year living in what is called a micro-house (a bit larger than a refrigerator, and smaller than a cheap motel room). The Urban Nomad 2.0: One Year in a Microhouse post links to the original blog (UN v.2.0). For those of you who are interested in the practical limits of minimalism, nomadism, or just living small this might be a worthwhile source of some inspiration.
