I started this blog a little over a year ago, and it would seem that I have taken an awful long time to find some focus… My focus has come from the fact that the vast majority of hits I have received on this blog relate to technology and the internet appliances I currently use (most notably the iPad).
I’ve done my share of looking over the web some sort of site which would provide some specific information about what it is like to actually use the iPad, how and why to integrate it into a personal network, and to help keep me abreast of more than Apple iPad related business news, and arbitrary reviews of any of the seeming hundreds of very similar iPad games and novelty apps.
I didn’t really find anything which filled that niche. There are certainly some of the ‘big’ players out there who provide a lot of great information for me (and most likely you too) such as: Lifehacker, Make Use OF, How to Geek, and Mashable…to name only a few. But these big sites cover personal technology with a rather broad brush.
I in tend to cover how to get the most out of a small personal network of internet appliances (in my case, I use an ASUS EeePC, an iPhone 3GS, and a (WiFi only) iPad. By some careful investment in a variety of apps, online services, and only a few programs, I have made an integrated service for myself across these three devices such that I am capable of fielding most of the communications I deal with, consuming various kinds of media, as well as to sometimes create my own.
As I have mentioned in another post, my personal history with computers is such that I may have finally gone beneath the threshold of having what would be considered a complete PC (i.e. a NetBook doesn’t have an optical drive…something which many still adhere to…).
I intend to cover, describe, and review the apps, services I have used (or tested and tried out), to report news which I think related to this specific coverage of these devices. Bear in mind that this is not the same as some of the aforementioned ‘big’ sites with professional budgets, and a staff of writers… I am just a guy who uses the same sorts of technology that you may be using, and our opinions are more often than not at least as worthwhile as my own…consequently I am considering some ways to rewards worthwhile commenters…
